We can also take a non weight-bearing
corrective impression of the patient's foot in Bio-foam. Using the
Bio-Foam impression method allows us to see the patient's foot and control the
amount of correction desired. We pour plaster into the foam to give a true form
of the foot. After allowing the plaster to set, we clean and prepare the
plaster form. We carve the metatarsal and other relief areas to the
specifications of the condition of the patient's foot. The plaster impression
of the patient's foot is then ready for molding. We heat and vacuum-mold rigid
or semi-rigid orthotic materials to the plaster foot form. After cooling we
sand, form and complete orthotics with a very thin soft cover material for the
patient's comfort.
